Introduction

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our company as a bulk earthworks contractor based in the Eastern Free State, South-Africa.

Location and background

The company was established in 1993 by Hennie du Plooy in Warden in the Eastern Free State.  The company started with two Bulldozers and concentrated on the building of earth wall dams and water control in crop fields.  The company also started doing small structural concrete jobs by 1994 to generate capital to expand the plant fleet.  In 1997 Hennie du Plooy bought his father’s company, WG Contractors, which was involved in plant hire and aggregate crushing.  In 1998 we decided to expand into bulk earthworks with the purchase of two scrapers to complement our dozer and excavator fleet.  The company currently runs 2 fleets of load and haul teams consisting of 30 ton excavators and 30 ton articulated dump trucks with D6 Dozers and self-propelled vibrating Rollers.  The company also have a Mobile Crushing and Screening plant with a capacity of 500 tons a day and has a very good safety record with the department of mineral and energy affairs.

The company build its own workshop facilities in Warden in 1998 and it consist of a 200m2   floor space.  The building is divided into five bays, namely: engineering, welding, maintenance and washing and sandblasting of equipment.  This area excludes adjoining storage, office and staff facilities and office for management and administrative personnel.   The company moved into new workshop facilities of 900m2 in Harrismith in July 2008, with a new office building, adjoined workshop and storage space.
